AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TULSA
FM RYAN AMBURGY • NM THOMAS BRAUNLICH • NM MARK HULSEY •
NM CHUCK UNRUH • JOSH ALEXANDER • MAX BARNES
The Rozsa Trophy is a round robin invitational for Oklahoma's top six players. This year's event will be held at the Allen Chapman Memorial Student Union on the campus of the University of Tulsa.
Top seed is FIDE Master Ryan Amburgy, the highest-rated Oklahoman in history. Next is National Life Master Thomas Braunlich, who won the inaugural Rozsa Trophy in 2023. Also playing this year are National Master Mark Hulsey, Joshua Alexander, David Luscomb, and Maxwell Barnes.
All three boards will be broadcast live with commentary by Jake Williams, a chess historian and coach whose popular channel is known for sharp analysis, lively discussion that appeals to new players, advanced players, and everyone in between. Look out for some special guest commentators over the weekend!
This year promises an exciting addition to the schedule. A tribute to Bela Rozsa and a live performance of one of his compositions will be held following round three. There are no recordings of this piece, and this is the first time it will be performed live. We are grateful to Steven Truelove, a former University of Tulsa student who studied under Rozsa, for coming to Oklahoma to honor Bela Rozsa and share with us this very special presentation.
