The 22nd Red River Shootout (RRSO XXII)

The RRSO is an annual team match between Texas and Oklahoma. Players are matched with an opponent of similar rating for two games (one as black, one as white).  Read about the tournament's history and notable players here.

To be eligible for the RRSO, players must have

  • an established regular rating

  • a current US Chess membership

  • Texas or Oklahoma as their state affiliation

RRSO format: two G/80;+5 games against the same opponent (one as black, one as white)

The Carter County Open

If there is an odd number of similarly rated players who are eligible for the RRSO, priority will be given to older players and RRSO veterans. Players who are not paired with an RRSO opponent will be invited to play in the Carter County Open.

The Carter County Open welcomes any player with a current US Chess membership—new/provisional players may participate, and no particular state affiliation is required. Oklahoma/Texas players who aren't paired with an opponent in the RRSO are invited to stick around and play in this event.

Carter County Open format: 4-SS, G/30;d5 (Four rounds, Swiss, Game in 30 minutes with a five-second delay)
